WHERE TO TREK ?
The Kingdom of Nepal is situated on the
southern Himalayan slopes between Tibet and India. The country is as large as Great
Britain.
Most of the world`s highest peaks tower over nearly the entire length of northern Nepal.
There are eight 8,000m+ peaks, more than one hundred of 7,000m and over one thousand of
more than 6,000m !
The `moderate` hilly area at 2,000 to 5,000m is south of these giants and is the main
trekking area. Here there are unforgettable views of the snowclad peaks, whilst trekking
through fascinating landscape :
Around 3oo km west of Kathmandu is the ANNAPURNA REGION, a popular
trekking area in Nepal. On the route you pass through an ever-changing landscape and
encounter many different cultural groups. The treks in this area are mostly moderate and
can be performed by people in good physical condition without any extreme hill-climbing
experience. Trekking always should be undertaken in a measured and relaxed way in order to
avoid the risk of altitude sickness by ascending too fast.
North of Kathmandu lies the border with Tibet and the regions of LANGTANG
and GOSAINKUNDA famous for its holy lakes as well as the GANESH
HIMAL area, around 100 km west of the capital.
Most famous of all is the EVEREST REGION, the treks leading to the Mt.
Everest Base Camp and to the Gokyo Lakes amidst the world`s highest peaks. Mountaineers
can also climb some so-called `Trekking Peaks` with heights over 5,000m in this area.
There are also more remote areas such as the regions around MANASLU, MAKALU
and KANCHENJUNGA which offer a wonderful trekking experience.
On the barren yet beautiful high altitude plateau bordering Tibet you can explore the
unique Tibetan cultures of MUSTANG and DOLPO.
Our agency has a great deal of experience in arranging treks and tours that can be
tailor-made to our clients` requirements and level of fitness.
